Welcome to Roskilde Cathedral Boys Choir website
The choir belongs to one of the most important cathedrals in Denmark.
The cathedral in Roskilde, built in the 12th century, is where almost all of the Danish kings and queens are buried.
The choir was founded in 1987 by Finn Evald. There are approximately 70 singers in the choir – 45 boys and 25 men.
The choir’s structure is modelled after English boys choirs, where the soprano is sung by the boys while the alto, tenor and bass are sung by the men.
In 2018 Egil Kolind took over as Choir Director.
The choir has performed extensively throughout the years. Besides singing for church services the choir has performed many concerts in the cathedral and in many other churches. The choir has sung oratorios and has a current repertoire which spans from early to modern music. It has sung for Danish Broadcasting, participated in recordings and produced several cd’s.
The choir has travelled to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Greenland, England, France, Canada, New Zealand and United States of America.
Egil Kolind is Choir Director.
